Made in Germany around the middle of the 20th century this lathe is a good quality 8mm watchmaker lathe which has additional features designed to assist in re-pivoting work. It is built around a very heavy cast iron base to minimise vibration. The base includes a bed and motor. Base with integrated reversible motor working normally. Bed in very good condition – looks little used. Indexable headstock which rotates freely, has additional drive capabilities and has no discernible float or play. Pump action drilling tailstock and drawbar which accepts the 8mm collets included. Offset tailstock designed to be used with the included special runners and triangular plate inserts included. Cross slide which is in very good condition and has only minimal intrinsic play. Fit to saddle clamp may need adjusting to ensure firm clamping. Three jaw chuck – this is a well used Lorch chuck which nevertheless fits well and is quite useable. Toolpost with 6 cutters. I assume that the height adjustment on this toolpost would be achieved using shims – there is no built in vertical adjustment. Wax chucks with various insert sizes. Boley box which looks to have been customised at some time. The catches need repair. Lathe cover also included. Adjustable offset safety carrier. Jacot tool set which includes an offset runner, 2 jacot drums (clock & watch), 3 cone plates, centring runner and a drilling runner (+ miniature collets). This jacot tool set replaces the pump runner in the tailstock when in use. This tool is marked G Boley – it may be customised to fit the pump tailstock – which is unusual. Jacobs chuck on an 8mm collet. Flip over graver rest. 33 – 8mm collets – most marked Boley. And other items which can be seen in the pictures. Overall the finish is good condition with only minor paint chips or blemishes as can be seen from the pictures – the paintwork looks as though it has been touched up at some time. These lathes are rare and are currently appreciating at a significant rate. This example would be an excellent tool for anyone involved in the restoration or repair of vintage horological timepieces.
