Up for BIN here is a Very Rare you’ve heard it before… This set _is_ rare Turn of the 20th century (1900’s) G. Boley Bevelled Edge Bed 3 Lathe Set (8mm) in Original Box With Accessories. I was going to keep this set and sell the second. This lathe set is much more elaborate than what I need for day to day use, not to mention it’s a collectors item, so I have decided to sell this set. Please look at the photos very carefully. The set is from around 1900 – 1910. Two of the Lathes, the Turns Lathe and the Lathe with the Chuck have been lovingly stored in the case and are in Fantastic Condition, not just for their age, they look beautiful. There is very little surface corrosion on the metal and the plating on both is about 8 out of 10. I have not touched either of them other than to dust them off. They are as found. The third Lathe, the one with the indexing pulleys was not as fortunate as the other two. The owner (wonderful person) inherited the set from his Father and unfortunately did not know that one of the Lathes he was storing in his garage was actually part of this set. The indexing Lathe was stored in a garage mounted on a stand, covered in crud, and had minor corrosion. I cleaned it and removed the corrosion from the bed. This Lathe will need to be re-plated to bring it up to the standard of the other two. Other than the plating it is complete (missing one of the oil hole cover pins). I thought it might be best to sell it as original rather than restoring it. I’ll let the new owner decide. The other two will need standard cleaning and servicing for any machine this old if they are to be used. The Dovetailed Case is in VGC. The hinges work fine and there are no issues with it’s structure. The accessories are also in VG – EC and it looks like most are still there. The Brass stand is beautiful and will be included with the sale (I cleaned that up). I use small machines for other work. My description of this Lathe reflects my experience with the many other precision machines I’ve bought and restored.
