OK boys break out that piggy bank because you’re never going to forgive yourself if you let this one get away! Likely the finest Logan 400 thread cutting lathe out there (9″ swing, 18″between centers) in the USA at this point, very little used if at all, as you can see from the pics the threaded parts are sharp and clean! Look at pictures especially of the change gears, headstock gearing, bed, lead screw, etc. I Just want one, easy no-problem sale, but if you think it would be better I could separate the lathe out from the tooling. Message me and let me know what you think. Everything works smoothly and locks down tight. Built with care in Chicago IL in 1948. Sensibly and partly disassembled two men can carry it off the stand with the countershaft assembly (motor and pulley rig) off. I have priced it very fairly considering these smaller lathes are always in demand – the go for more than large ones. Plan on having at least one helper with you when you pick it up and two would be best. Can be seen at my home shop in Beloit WI about an hour and a half from Chicago, less to Milwaukee, etc. Examine the pictures for detail and you will agree. Everything is aged, seasoned fine-grain cast iron, steel,, no cheap questionable metals like today’s shoddy Asian made lathes probably machined the day the castings cool. Cuts a wide range of screw threads and pitches, and has a virgin thread cutting dial I bought on this site, and installed. I got this from a professional mechanic, machinist, welder and builder of race cars, in a prosperous suburb here in the Midwest, he bought it from original owner who was an old engineer who bought it intending to use it for hobby use but apparently just had let it set. He (second owner) cleaned it up, repainted it, designed and welded the stand. He had some fun with it but got another, larger more modern lathe and tooling in trade for some work more suitable for the size parts he works with and decided to sell this. I have had it for two years and acquired a ton of great classic, and new-manufacture tooling for it, but didn’t have any time for it with other business I had to do. Please look at all the pictures. Both 5″, three-jaw and 6″, four-jaw chucks and jaws (Buck Chuck, Kalamazoo MI) as well as a brand new high-precision CNC made 5C collet chuck properly mounted to a back plate I turned on the spindle. I replaced the obsolete rocker tool post with a good quality import Aloris AXA style toolpost and bought TONS of holders, tools, etc. There is tail stock tooling as well in MT2 size, and even a MT3 taper for the headstock, and a 6faceplate.
