This is a very rare 8mm Rivett (British made) model 1R ball full ball bearing indexing head lathe with dual collet holding attachments, matching tool rest and collets. The box is marked serial No 215. It comes with matching Rivett collets and accessories pictured. The collets are like the day they left England – bright, shiny and without tool marks. The base may have been added for versatility as it comes with the original Rivett mount as well. It is likely from around WWII from the research I have done. Collets are all in fine shape and bright and shiny as the day they were made. For very small apologies, there is one chip to the edge of the right side bakelite collet holder and 2 scratches to the heavy paint which are pictured neither affecting use. The translucent bakelite or celluloid (not sure which) is very cool! The full ball bearing head stock has numbered indexing points and it locks in place. Instructions are inside the box cover. The head stock collet holder has all factory bluing. This tool appears to have never needed cleaning and I expect as close as you will find anywhere to “factory fresh”, The motor and foot pedal work well with new wiring done very recently. It comes with a Henry Paulsen motor (Chicago) and foot pedal, that work well. I don’t know if it is used with the lathe but it came with it so I will include it. This fine tool should be put back to use. I struggle parting with it as I know I won’t come across a lathe of this rarity and quality again but here it is.. I believe it was used a few times and then properly stored. Turning the head stock you feel the highest quality. BTW, the head stock paint looks washed out in pics.. It had a pretty heavy coat of cosmoline or whatever protective grease was used at the factory to coat it which left the head stock a little shinier than the tail stock.
