Vintage Lathe Tailstock with Adjustable Dead Center Tool – used. Dimensions for Dead Center Tool: – Center tool is a standard 30/60 degree tip. It has a larger diameter and a smaller diameter but without any detectable taper. The larger diameter is approx 3/4″ at the adjustment knob and this extends for approx 4″ to a’step’ where the diameter drops to approx 7/16″ as a’cone’ for an additional approx 3/8″ to the tip. This’cone’ is not on the center line of the tool, it is at the edge as shown in Pictures. The tip of the center tool is approx 3 above the flat bottom of the tailstock. The adjustment mechanism is driven by an approx 1-1/2 diameter knurled knob. This mechanism works properly and allows extension of the center tool to go from 0 (flush with face of tailstock) to approx 0.92 maximum. Dimensions for the Tailstock. The tailstock is approx 2-3/4″ long, 3-1/2″ wide and 1/2 thick at its corner. The bottom has a’guide rail’ that sticks out from the base approx. 0.20 and is approx. The top of the tailstock is approx 2.47 from the base of the tailstock (w/o including the thickness of the guide rail).
