Vintage Watchmakers / Jewelers Moseley Lathe with 18 Collets. This is a vintage watchmakers jewelers Moseley lathe with 18 collets. We believe it is a 8mm but we still arent 100% positive how to tell. We measured the treaded part of one of the collect that comes with this set with a digital. Micrometer and it measured 6.95 approx. So is that a 6 mm or an 8 mm? This lathe appears to be clean/polished. But as you can see in our photos, it is not mint or new. The pulley wheel on the headstock has misc. Chips and even looks like. One large one has been possibly repaired and the bed has a nice chuck missing at one end (pointed out with an arrow in one of our photos), though we dont believe it has an effect on anything. Everything that moves, does so nicely, the pulley spins nice and smoothy (no play back and forth), all attachments slide on and off as they should and are tight when in the locked position. It does work (as seen in our video). The bed is marked Moseley & Co. (again, has a large chip, see photo). The bottom of tail piece is marked 55 and 55. The chuck is marked Jacobs Chuck Hartford Conn. 0-5/32 THD 5/16 x 24 95 G. There is no name on the center piece but has a # 17 (we believe its 17). The pulley assembly part is marked Moseley Hard 6597. The base (pedestal) has a #3 marked on it. Name plate on motor is missing. No off & on switch on motor (plug in, it runs). Needs a foot pedal or On/Off switch for ease & comfort. Collets are as marked. 16 N inside a diamond shape. 24 N inside a diamond shape. Though everything seems to be working properly. That we are not watchmakers or repair men, and know nothing about these lathes. Just part of it. But this is why we shot videos and take the best photos we can. What we may not be able to explain, at least you see what we see. Look at our photos closely. As they are a more accurate part of our description. While we usually describe as many elements as possible, occasionally details are missed. Will be disassembled and well packed!
