Beautiful, solid lathe built by Thayer, Houghton in Worcester MA back in the 1850s. Gap bed lathe, swing is 48 with gap open, and at least six feet between centers. 4 1/2″ riser blocks can push the swing up to 57″. Motor is 2 HP; it is 3-phase with a variable frequency drive so you can run it on single phase 230v. Shown here with Oneway banjo, but it also has the original banjo for a more antique look and feel. Comes with several face plates, up to 32. Morse taper #3, with adapters to M2 and to 1.25 x 8 thread to fit all your standard modern chucks. This is a wonderful vintage machine, but it won’t fit in my next shop.
