Made in Germany around the middle of the 20th century this lathe is a good quality 8mm watchmaker lathe which has additional features designed to assist in re-pivoting work. It is built around a very heavy cast iron base to minimise vibration. The base includes a bed and motor. Indexable headstock which rotates freely and has no discernible float or play. Two tailstocks, and special runners. One tailstock is offset and is designed to be used with the included triangular plate inserts (3 included). Cross slide which is in very good condition and has only minimal play. Scroll chuck by Boley (a little stiff but will probably free up with use). Faceplate with centring runner – which is often lost. 12 centres with various ends to be used with the tailstock runners. Toolpost with 5 cutters. Wax chucks with various insert sizes. Dead centre driver with male and female centres. Jacot tool set which includes an offset runner, jacot drum, 2 cone plates, centring runner and a drilling runner (+ miniature collets). 5 fir cone chucks. Flip over graver rest (this shows signs of a repair at some time but is in good useable condition). 30 normal 8mm collets – all marked Boley. 6 oversized collets – marked Boley. Small selection of brass collets – for small delicate work. Slitting saw arbour plus blade. And other items which can be seen in the pictures. Overall the finish is good condition with only minor paint chips or blemishes as can be seen from the pictures – the paintwork looks as though it has been touched up at some time. These lathes are rare and are currently appreciating at a significant rate. This example would be an excellent tool for anyone involved in the restoration or repair of vintage horological timepieces.
